This issue outlines and explores five aspects of professional conduct that I believe should be accounted for in a comprehensive Code of Ethics in the domain of Computer Science that are not sufficiently covered by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) in the CIPS Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Generally, the Computer Science discipline or field strongly emphasizes that works made by professionals in the field adhere to principles of consent, compliance, and privacy in terms of security, confidentiality, and intellectual property protection. Therefore, any Code of Ethics or Professional Conduct for professionals in the Computer Science discipline in the federation of Canada must, to a high degree of specificity yet with a fair degree of generality, outline and explore the predominant tools, techniques, standards, and principles to be harnessed in enforcing consent, compliance, security, confidentiality, and propriety in IT works. In essence, the CIPS Code of Ethics must do exactly such.
